The nuclear power plant of Blayais is localised to the commune of Blaye, in the middle of the marsh of Blayais, on the commune of Braud-et-Saint-Louis (Gironde), in edge of the Gironde between Bordeaux (60 km upstream) and Royan (80 km downstream). It is cooled by the water of the estuary of the Gironde which is pumped via underwater drains.
It has 4 nuclear engines of 900 MW.
