The Tooth of Crolles (Dent de Crolles) is a calcareous top of the Chartreuse mountains in the regional Natural reserve of Chartreuse, in Isere (France). It also forms the southern border of the Natural Reserve Tops of Chartreuse which extends to north to the Granier Mount.
This mountain is one of the symbols of Grenoble and the valley of Grésivaudan, from where it is quite visible. Its name comes from its pace of large molar and the commune which is with its feet, Crolles. Its fast access since the valley by the 'col du Coq' in fact a privileged place of walk for the residents of Grenoble.
There are two principal pedestrian way to go up at the top of the Tooth of Crolles (Dent de Crolles). Both leave the road going up to the 'col du Coq' since Saint-Nazaire-the-Eymes, a few hundred meters under the col. To go up to the col of Ayes and to continue the path on the line. The two routes separate shortly after the col:
* The path of right-hand side leads directly to the top by the 'pas de l'Œille', while passing by the South-western face.
* The path of left follows the GR. while skirting the Western face of the Tooth of Crolles. It leads to the 'Trou du Glaz'. A little later to take a path on the right which goes up on the plate until the top.
Many climbing ways exist mainly opposite is Tooth of Crolles.
