Chamonix is located at the north of the Alps, with the foot of the solid mass of Mont Blanc. However the top of the Mont Blanc is not located on its territory but on that of the district of Saint-Gervais-the-Baths close to the limit between the two communes.
Several tops of more than 4000 meters are in Chamonix: l'Aiguille Verte, les Grandes Jorasses, la Dent du Géant, le mont Maudit and le Mont Blanc du Tacul. The town of Chamonix is frontier with Switzerland and Italy.
It is the 3rd natural site more visited in the world. Mont Blanc, with an altitude of 4807 meters, is the highest mountain of Europe. 90% of the skiable field are located above 2000 meters. It is possible to ski on more than 600 km of tracks without forgetting the descent of the White Valley which is the longest glacial descent in the world. Chamonix is a town of mountain where the tourists flow: indeed, its altitude of 1035 meters is very well supported by the young children like by the old people, with an exceptional sight on the glaciers and the surrounding mountains.
